A PERSISTENT THOUGHT

July
10I am NOT a runner. I consider myself to have an incredibly weak cardiovascular capacity and endurance. The longest I’ve run this summer is probably 20 minute continuously at a slow pace (probably around 5.0mph), which is actually not a run at all.
However, I have this persistent thought that I should sign up for a Try-a-Tri and give myself a challenging goal to work towards.
Not only am I not a runner, but I don’t currently have a bike that works and I am very fearful of open waters when it comes to swimming. This is my dilemma. A very scary dilemma but one that I can’t seem to get out of my thoughts.
I live for overcoming challenges! It drives me to keep achieving goals that I really am out to make a reality.
I hope to race in the Somersault Try-a-Try on Saturday, September 3rd, 2011 in Ottawa. I haven’t actually registered into the race and I know that is the next step to make it become REAL. This race consists of a short 200m swim, 15km bike, and a 3km run. I would estimate at a slow pace it should take approximately 1-1.5 hours to complete.
I invite those who may want to try a mini-triathlon but might be too scared to commit. Let’s do it together!
If readers have suggestions for beginner training programs or recommendations for bikes, trails in Toronto, and helpful websites, I would appreciate all the advice I can get.
Where do I start?
