It’s been a while since I’ve posted about Training for a Try-a-Tri, and I have to say that I was putting off registering for a race and making it ‘real for me’. However, after an inspiring ‘Integrity Seminar’ at Landmark last night, I was motivated to register for my mini-triathlon. I was putting it off for a while, not finding a race that fell on a free weekend or was close enough to Toronto, and had it at the bottom of my to-do list. However, an opportunity opened up yesterday and I was able to move a course to a later date in order to register for the ‘Give-It-A-Tri’ race on Saturday, August 27th at Toronto Island.
My training has been mediocre and I have been swimming, running and resistance training fairly regularly. I have yet to get on a bike. With the race in less than 2 weeks, I better ramp up my training a bit. Any advice?
The distances are not too daunting with a 400m swim, a 10km bike, and a 2.5km run. I am feeling more confident about the swim although I am still a bit worried about the temperature, waves and the other participants who may be a distraction.
